Originally a small farming community, Bartlett has grown steadily in size and population, incorporating new subdivisions and schools to counteract demand. The town of Bartlett is strong in community involvement, with active residents who participate in village developments. Among other organizations for the betterment of the community, the village tree planting program provides residents with parkway foliage at reasonable prices.

Housing
Although some homes date back to the 1800’s, the majority of housing was built within the last thirty years.

Transportation
Both Route 20 and Route 59 offer easy access to the Eisenhower Expressway (I-90), the Northwest (I-90) and the East-West (I-88) Tollway. Metra train commuter service is available at the Bartlett station on weekdays.

Schools
Bartlett’s elementary and High School students attend schools in District U-46, the second largest school district in the state of Illinois. Four parochial schools are located nearby.

Shopping
Some small shops are located in town and a variety of strip malls are found in nearby Elgin. Woodfield Mall, in Schaumburg, is about ten miles east of Bartlett, boasting over 255 stores in an indoor facility.

Recreation
Bartlett offers a variety of recreational activities through its Park District and various community organizations. Nearby forest preserve land is also open to the public.
