Chicago L.A.T.E. Ride 2010!
The event consists of 9,000 bicyclists who embark on a 25-mile ride through Chicago’s neighborhoods and along the lakefront. It takes place Saturday night through Sunday morning July 10-11. This year, the organizers have created a new route, which starts at Buckingham Fountain and takes cyclists through the South Loop, China Town and Greek Town. The L.A.T.E. Ride is Chicago’s biggest charity bicycle ride. Money raised goes to help improve Chicago’s parks and forest preserves. The $45 registration fee can be paid in person or by mail. Gov. Pat Quinn is doing his part to help bicycle safety by signing legislation into law that would establish new penalties for motorists that drive recklessly or too close to bicyclists. This would be a great event for those who want to work off those few extra pounds gained during the Taste.
